The Palm Springs Area/Coachella Valley of Southern California…It will grow on you!

The desert golf lifestyle was born in the Coachella Valley, and today it has truly never been better. Stretching from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea, the Coachella Valley offers beautifully maintained homes, 120 of the world’s best golf courses, and the opportunity to live in a true paradise.

The Coachella Valley is located in Riverside County, currently the second fastest growing region in the United States. The landscape is picturesque, with views of the rugged San Jacinto Mountains prevalent throughout the area, and lush landscaping combined with the Southern California/Southwest look. There’s really no other place like it in the U.S. It’s simply a great place to live, work & play!

What a Quality of Life!

The Coachella Valley boasts a median temperature of 72 degrees, an average of 350 days of sunny blue skies each year and more than 120 golf courses in existence or under construction. There is a reason why the Coachella Valley is called the “Golf Capital of the World”, and there are a multitude of options for golfers on both the private side and public side. But golf is just the tip of the iceberg. From tennis to hiking, from hot air ballooning to off-roading, there are an abundance of recreational opportunities that are nurtured in the Coachella Valley. We also have an array of major sporting events, including the PGA Tour’s Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (now hosted by George Lopez), the Pacific Life Tennis Masters at the world famous Indian Wells Tennis Gardens, and one of the pre-eminent collegiate golf events, The Prestige at PGA WEST. This tournament, incidentally, is directed by GolfandHome’s Network Affiliate for the Coachella Valley, Mark Weissmann.

There is also the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival, the Coachella Valley Music Festival, the Indio Tamale Festival and the world famous horse show. All of these events help lure more than three million visitors per year!

The Golf Lifestyle

An abundant number of developments are being built in beautiful new and pristine communities throughout the Coachella Valley, in prestigious golf towns such as Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, Desert Hot Springs, La Quinta and Indio. There are also many great re-sale homes in well-established neighborhoods, and of course an array of golf and country clubs with various price points and amenities to choose from. Just about every big name to ever design a golf course has left his mark here. The desert golf lifestyle is more accessible than ever in the Coachella Valley, and whether its your dream to walk from your front door inside your beautiful gated community right to the 1st tee, or you simply want to be surrounded by some of the best public golf in the country, we`ve got you covered! This is a golf lover`s paradise.

For the young golfers in the family, The Desert Junior Golf Association offers free junior golf clinics and tournament opportunities for junior players and has produced several top professional players. There are also a host of Executive golf courses, which present a fantastic opportunity for linksters to enjoy golf while playing on shorter than regulation courses that are just as beautiful as top tournament courses. Taken as a whole, The Coachella Valley`s golf courses offer tremendous variety and lure golfers from around the world throughout the year.

Growth, Business & Schools

Of course, it`s not all about the golf. There are currently approximately 380,000 full time residents living in the Coachella Valley, with an additional 300,000 people who are in the area during the winter season. With more and more people relocating here, it is projected that by the year 2020, the Coachella Valley will grow to 800,000 full time residents. According to the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership, there is a good reason for this: “Sunny weather, affordable land, affordable homes in every price range, new commercial construction, universities, a growing, trained workforce, international airport and convenient freeway distribution access, and an incomparable lifestyle are just a few reasons why the Coachella Valley is the target relocation place.”

The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership can assist businesses looking to relocate with various incentive packages. CVEP can also direct relocating business to select federal, state and local economic incentives available to attract new jobs, investment and development. Businesses in the Coachella Valley enjoy easy access to major markets because of its proximity to Los Angeles and other major freeway routes via Interstate 10, which connects to all major California corridors as well as to points east.

Jobs are Plentiful and Good Workers Are Needed!

Unemployment is currently at a very low rate of 4.2%. Our area’s growth demands a workforce that has the professional and vocational skills necessary to support it, and there are an abundance of jobs available in the medical, educational, hotel management, Native American gaming, tourism, construction, agricultural, and many other industries! There are also many beneficial opportunities available for companies to relocate or initiate new divisions within the Coachella Valley Enterprise Zone.

Schools

The Palm Springs Unified, Desert Sands and Coachella Valley Unified School Districts are meeting the challenge of growth within the Coachella Valley. Schools are being built and good teachers, attracted to the wonderful desert lifestyle, are coming in droves. Many of the area’s high schools are amongst the leaders in Riverside County and are measured very successfully within the state of California and the nation.

Higher Education

The Coachella Valley’s growth has created additional opportunities for advanced education for students of all ages. College of the Desert is currently expanding and rebuilding its Palm Desert campus and is offering classes throughout the Coachella Valley. 10,000 students are attending College of the Desert; a two-year accredited California Community College that has attracted a very special faculty.

California State University, San Bernardino, has opened a campus in the new University Park area of Palm Desert. This campus is unique in that it has been built with private funding. This will be a growing university that students from the Coachella Valley and from throughout California and the nation have an opportunity to attend and earn a four year degree.

The University of California, Riverside has also opened the Heckman Center in Palm Desert, which offers Masters programs in various disciplines in a beautiful new building and overall setting.

Land & Commercial Opportunities

Even with all of the recent press focusing on the state of the real estate market in California and around the country, there are still comparatively excellent values to buy land in the Coachella Valley compared to other much more expensive areas in Coastal California. And with the emergence of growth throughout the Valley, land acquisition is a timely opportunity.

Commercial opportunities also abound within the Coachella Valley. It’s a community that demands goods and services since much of its population has moved from major cities in California and throughout the nation. Hotels, restaurants, major department stores that now include Nordstrom’s (coming to the Coachella Valley) as well as Macy’s, Saks Fifth Ave., Sears and JC Penny have all found the Coachella Valley to be a one of the strongest retail per capita markets in the nation!
